Gmail’s Summarize feature is powered by Google’s Gamini AI assistant. The feature is designed to summarise an email and provide users with important information or the gist of a lengthy email.
Once the feature goes live, users will see a new “Summarize this email” button placed beneath the subject line of the emails. Tapping the button generates a concise summary of the email's contents, making it easier to grasp important information at a glance.

Furthermore, users have the option to copy the summary to the clipboard for easy reference or sharing purposes.
Expected rollout details
Based on some previous leaks and reports, Google may announce the feature during the upcoming I/O 2024 event alongside other announcements like Pixel 8a smartphone and more.
